TAIPING, July 13 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) will provide counselling support to participants involved in a recent controversial marriage motivation programme, said its Deputy Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad.
Noraini, who is also Wanita UMNO Chief, said, however, that the ministry has yet to receive a detailed report on the matter.
“In cases like this, once we receive a report, we usually mobilise counsellors from the Social Welfare Department, the Department for Women’s Development or National Welfare Foundation to meet with those involved,” she told reporters after officiating the UMNO Taiping Division delegates meeting, which was also attended by its Division Chief, Datuk Ahmad Shalimin Ahmad Shaffie.
She advised women to thoroughly verify the credibility of any motivation programme related to women or marriage before participating.
Previously, social media was abuzz with claims from a former participant alleging that the programme, held behind closed doors at a convention centre here in September last year, featured inappropriate and provocative content.
The woman claimed that the event, known as eHATI, was disguised as a programme promoting happy families, marital intimacy and motivational support for women, particularly those facing domestic issues.
