Man Charged With Snatching, Robbing Jewellery Of Seven Women

SEREMBAN, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- A man pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to seven counts of snatch theft and robbery, allegedly committed since last year.

Mohamad Halikhwan Halbairi, 35, made the plea after the charges were read out separately before Judge Mohamad Kamil Nizam.

He was charged with snatching and robbing the jewellery of seven women aged between 24 and 73 at seven locations in the Seremban district between 10 am and 12.30 pm and between May 23, 2024, and July 3 this year.

The charges were framed under Section 392 of the Penal Code, which provides imprisonment for up to 14 years and is liable to a fine or whipping upon conviction.

Mohamad Halikhwan, unrepresented,  was allowed bail of RM45,000 in one surety for all charges and was also ordered to report to a nearby police station once a month and not intimidate witnesses.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Nurnadiahani Mohd Ideris. 

The court set Nov 18 for mention for the submission of documents and appointment of a counsel.
