Layang-layangan Beach Set To Become Labuan’s New Weekend Recreational Hub

LABUAN, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- Layang-Layangan Beach, one of Labuan’s most scenic coastal stretches, is set to be developed into a new attraction for both locals and visitors.

The beach area will feature upgraded public facilities and a uniquely designed tunnel to enhance its appeal as a weekend leisure and recreation destination.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the project implemented by Labuan Corporation (LC) aims to turn the area into a vibrant recreational centre for families and tourists.

She said the upcoming works include the construction of new food stalls and the upgrading of existing food structures, to complement the recreational and relaxation activities commonly enjoyed at the beach.

Dr Zaliha said that part of the project already completed includes concrete brick parking lots, a pathway tunnel and a stairway tower, which have further enhanced accessibility and convenience for visitors.

“Layang-Layangan Beach has long been known as one of the best spots in Labuan to enjoy the sunset. With the planned improvements, it will become an even more attractive location for leisure and social activities,” she told reporters after visiting the site.

The project is part of ongoing efforts to improve public amenities and tourism infrastructure across Labuan, in line with the federal government’s commitment to boost the island’s tourism potential.
