KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- Eco World Foundation today handed over two new haemodialysis machines worth RM86,000 to the Ampang Kau Ong Yah Foundation Dialysis Centre, replacing ageing units and improving care for underprivileged kidney patients.
Its chairman, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said the initiative reflects the Foundation’s belief that corporate responsibility extends beyond education and community support to include healthcare and overall well-being.
“Healthcare is a basic need that no one should be deprived of. By contributing these machines, the Eco World Foundation hopes to ease the burden on the centre and most importantly, improve the quality of care for patients who depend on dialysis for their survival,” he told reporters at the event.
Lee said that the initiative forms part of the Eco World Cares programme, which focuses on uplifting communities through education, welfare and healthcare support.
The donation follows a previous contribution by the Foundation in Rawang, where a haemodialysis machine worth RM52,000 was given to the St John Ambulance Malaysia-Kawasan Pantai Selangor Foundation (SJAM-KPS) to replace the older unit at the SJAM-KPS Rawang Dialysis Centre.
Meanwhile, Ampang Kau Ong Yah Foundation Treasurer Tony Yap Yoong Kim described the collaboration as a powerful example of how corporate foundations and community organisations can address critical healthcare needs.
“Every act of kindness brings hope and healing. Each additional machine allows more patients to access timely treatment, live with dignity, and enjoy a better quality of life,” he said.
Founded in 2003, the Ampang Kau Ong Yah Haemodialysis Centre currently provides subsidised dialysis to 73 patients, operating six days a week across two shifts, and is among Selangor’s pioneer non-profit dialysis centres.
