KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Muamalat) is celebrating Deepavali this year with a series of community initiatives promoting harmony, family values and Malaysia’s cultural diversity.
The bank, in a statement today, said that as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting Malaysia’s multi-racial community, it has launched an essential goods donation programme to assist underprivileged and B40 families in the federal capital during the festive period.
The donation packs, each containing essential items such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour and other kitchen staples, were made possible through the generous contributions of Bank Muamalat employees under the “Kongsi Rezeki” campaign.
Bank Muamalat president and chief executive officer Datuk Khairul Kamarudin, in the same statement, said the donation reflects the bank’s concern for the well-being of the community, regardless of race or religion.
“Guided by the spirit of ‘Better Lives, Together’, which lies at the heart of every Bank Muamalat initiative, this programme goes beyond material aid by fostering understanding and compassion among Malaysia’s multi-racial communities, thereby strengthening empathy and social unity.
“This demonstrates the bank’s commitment to promoting community well-being and reinforces the belief that unity and mutual respect form the foundation of a harmonious society,” he said in the statement.
Adding to the festive cheer, Bank Muamalat launched a special Deepavali video titled ‘Misi Muruku’, an in-house production by its employees.
“Featuring themes of racial harmony, family values and diversity, the video conveys the message that the true beauty of the festival lies not only in the celebration but in the spirit of mutual respect and understanding,” according to the statement.
In appreciation of the unwavering support from its customers and the public, Bank Muamalat launched the Follow & Win: Mega Deepavali Giveaway Contest, offering two iPad A16 128GB units as the grand prize. The contest is open to all Bank Muamalat customers and followers of its social media platforms.
Bank Muamalat expressed hope that these initiatives will help strengthen its ties with the community while demonstrating its commitment to the values of humanity, unity and shared well-being.
