KUANTAN, Oct 18 (Bernama) -- A total of 65 families living in Cameron Highlands have received basic necessities in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration.
Tanah Rata assemblyman Ho Chi Yang said the aid was distributed to Indian families residing in areas such as Brinchang, Tanah Rata and Ringlet recently.
He said each bag contained essential items and daily food supplies to help ease the financial burden of families in need and allow them to celebrate the festival with joy and peace with their loved ones.
“The spirit of helping one another within the community is the true essence of this festival. I believe that every race and community deserves to be seen, respected and supported.
“Through this small contribution, I hope everyone can celebrate Deepavali in the light of happiness and togetherness,” he said in a statement today.
In addition to the Deepavali aid, Ho also channelled an education allocation totalling RM13,000 to eight Tamil national-type schools (SJKTs) in the Cameron Highlands area.
The schools involved were SJKT Ringlet, SJKT Tanah Rata, SJKT Blue Valley, SJKT Kuala Terla, SJKT Ladang Boh 1, SJKT Ladang Boh 2, SJKT Shum Yip Leong and SJKT Sungai Palas.
He said the allocation was aimed at helping the schools improve infrastructure facilities and organise student activities.
