Family Member Of Penang Murder Victims Calls For Justice

SIK, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- The son of 51-year-old Sariya Che Hin, who was found dead, believed to have been murdered at a house in Kampung Sekolah Juru, Penang, yesterday, hopes for justice for the deaths of his mother and younger sister.

Mohd Noor Hafifi Hassan, 28, said he did not want his family’s horrific experience to happen to others in the future.

“I really hope for justice. Not just for myself, but so that such incidents won’t happen again to anyone else.

“I also hope everyone takes this as a lesson — the most important thing is family relationships, that’s very, very important,” he told reporters when met at the Al-Maarif Mosque Muslim Cemetery in Jeneri here tonight.

He also urged the public not to speculate on the deaths of his mother and his younger sister, who is adopted.

Yesterday, kuih seller Sariya and 11-year-old Nur Afrina Alisha Abdul Rahim, were found dead, believed to have been murdered, and their bodies were discovered by Sariya’s husband, 57, at about 7.30 pm.

Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail was reported as saying that police have remanded the victim’s husband until Oct 25 to assist in the investigation.

Mohd Noor Hafifi, who works as an engineer at a port in Manjong, Perak, said he was shocked to receive news of his mother and sister’s deaths just after returning from work.

“As soon as I got the call, I couldn’t believe it and immediately sent a message to my mother via WhatsApp, but there was no reply,” he said.

The remains of Sariya and Nur Afrina Alisha were laid to rest at 8.30 pm today.
