World Track Cycling C’ships: Nurul Izzah Eliminated In Sprint Event

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- The hopes of Malaysia’s sole representative, Nurul Izzah Izzati Mohd Asri, to advance further in the women’s individual sprint event at the 2025 World Track Cycling Championships were dashed when she lost to New Zealander Ellesse Andrews in the 1/16 round in Santiago, Chile, early this morning (Malaysian time).

Earlier, the 22-year-old clocked 11.019 seconds to be placed 26th out of 34 participants in the qualifying round.

However, her time was way off her national record of 10.578s, which she set at the UCI Track Nations Cup in Turkiye in March.

Nurul Izzah Izzati will now switch her attention to the keirin event, which will be held on Sunday (Oct 26).
