KUANTAN, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- An 11-month-old baby girl died after the car, driven by her father, collided with a herd of cows at KM49 of Jalan Kerayong-Simpang Kepayang, Bera, yesterday.
Bera police chief Supt Zulkiflee Nazir said the victim, Nur Adriana Amira Mohamad Norismail, who suffered multiple injuries, including to the head, was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Klinik Bandar Bera 32.
He added that preliminary investigations found that the accident occurred at about 9.40 pm when the family was travelling from Kepayang to Kerayong.
“When they reached the scene, a herd of cows suddenly crossed the road from left to right, causing the driver to lose control and hit the animals before skidding onto the shoulder of the road,” he said in a statement today.
He added that girl’s 21-year-mother, who was in the front passenger seat holding the baby, suffered a head injury, while the 22-year-old driver escaped unhurt.
Zulkiflee said the baby’s body was taken to the Bera Hospital Forensics Unit for a post-mortem today and the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
