Analysis of Digital Devices At Ebit Lew's Home Found No Pornographic Materials - Witness

TENOM, Oct 24  (Bernama) -- The police investigating officer in the sexual harassment case involving Ebit Erawan Ibrahim Lew or Ebit Lew told the Magistrate's Court here that she visited the preacher’s residence to conduct an initial analysis of several digital devices at the premises.

The 18th prosecution witness, Supt Noor Asyikin Shamsuri, 46, said she went to the house on Aug 19, 2021, accompanied by a photographer and a forensic team, to inspect a computer and several mobile phones for any pornographic elements.

“Following the inspection, we did not find any pornographic materials, and there were no other telephones in the house,” she said.

She said the photographer took 34 photos in Lew's house and a photo of the house's electricity bill.

In addition, Noor Asyikin said that on Aug 16, 2021, she had instructed Insp Mohd Ashraf Chai Abdullah to issue a request letter to WhatsApp LLC USA company seeking access to review the accused’s WhatsApp account as part of the investigation.

"It was to obtain details of WhatsApp account users and call logs," he said when asked by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Azizah Mohamad, who prosecuted in the case together with deputy public prosecutors Analia Kamaruddin and Muhammad Hidayat Wahab.

Lew, represented by lawyers Datuk Ram Singh, Kamarudin Mohmad Chinki and Prabjit Singh Gill, is facing 11 charges, including insulting the modesty of a woman in her 40s by sending her obscene words and pictures via WhatsApp between March and June 2021.

The charge, under Section 509 of the Penal Code, provides a maximum imprisonment of five years or a fine or both if convicted.

The hearing before Magistrate Nur Asyraf Zolhani continues on Nov 3 and 4.
