Sultan Of Brunei Arrives In Malaysia For 47th ASEAN Summit

SUBANG, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, arrived in Malaysia today to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits which will be held from Oct 26 to 28 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The special aircraft carrying His Majesty and his delegation, including Prince Abdul Mateen Bolkiah landed at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Base in Subang at 6.30 pm and was received by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah then inspected a guard of honour mounted by two officers and 34 personnel from the First Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment, led by Captain Ashraf Zulkifli. 

His Majesty’s presence at the summit underscores Brunei Darussalam’s strong commitment to enhancing regional cooperation and solidarity among ASEAN member states.

This year, Malaysia holds the ASEAN Chairmanship, under the theme ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability', reflecting its commitment to fostering a united, resilient and forward-looking ASEAN Community.

This marks the fifth time Malaysia has assumed the ASEAN Chair since the bloc’s establishment in 1967, following its previous chairmanships in 2015, 2005, 1997 and 1977.

The 47th ASEAN Summit will gather the leaders of all 10 ASEAN member states as well as key dialogue partners including the United States, China, Japan and South Africa.
