KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has called on all ministry staff and agencies under his purview to act swiftly and with a strong sense of urgency in responding to various natural disasters caused by the recent severe weather.
Nanta pointed out the most recent incidents, including a landslide in Penang and severe flooding in several areas of Perak yesterday.
“I have been informed that cleanup efforts are already underway. However, the slopes are still being monitored due to the ongoing unpredictable weather conditions.
"I have instructed immediate action, on-the-ground coordination, and timely reporting without delay," he said in a Facebook post today.
He stressed the importance of every hour when it comes to safeguarding the lives and well-being of the public.
In addition, he reminded the ministry and its agencies to remain proactive, responsive, and united, not only during emergencies but also in all tasks to ensure the safety of the nation’s infrastructure and the welfare of the people.
