Man Arrested For Circulating Obscene Photos Of 17-year-old Ex-girlfriend

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- Police arrested a man last Sunday for allegedly circulating obscene photos of his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend via the WhatsApp application.

Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the 40-year-old suspect was arrested at 9.35 pm in Saujana Putra, Kajang after police received a report from the management of a private college last Thursday.

Last Thurday at 8.26 pm, a police report was filed by the college staff regarding the distribution of obscene and humiliating photographs, believed to belong to a former female student of the college, which were circulated in the college students' WhatsApp group.

"Acting on information, police arrested the victim's former boyfriend, who is unemployed, and seized a mobile phone to assist with the investigation," he said in a statement today.

Naazron said the suspect was remanded for three days until tomorrow to assist with the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Multimedia Communications Act 1998.

Naazron asked the public with information regarding the incident to contact any nearby police station or the assistant investigating officer Sergeant Siti Aidah Yem at 010-2176278 to assist with the investigation.
