JAKARTA, Oct 30 (Bernama) -- The average cost of performing the Hajj in 2026 for each Indonesian pilgrim has been set at 87.4 million rupiah (RM25,700), down by about two million rupiah compared to last year.
The figure was agreed upon following discussions between Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, the Indonesian government, and the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) at the Parliament Complex on Wednesday.
Commission VIII chairman Marwan Dasopang said in a statement that the cost was realistic and would not compromise service quality for the 221,000 pilgrims, who will stay an average of 41 days.
He explained that pilgrims will pay 54.2 million rupiah, while the remaining 33.2 million rupiah will be covered by returns from Hajj fund investments, and the surplus of 149 billion rupiah will be reserved for subsidies in the following year.
Service quality remains a priority, with accommodation close to the Masjidil Haram and Masjid Nabawi, Indonesian-style meals, and pocket money provided.
