Selangor Launches metaSEL To Collect Data On Innovation, New Discoveries
SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 (Bernama) — Selangor has launched a strategic initiative called Metamorphosis Selangor (metaSEL), to usher in a new era of innovation and administrative modernisation.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said metaSEL will function as the central repository for innovation data and new discoveries under the state government’s supervision.
“MetaSEL is established to drive innovation, technology, digitalisation, and administrative modernisation in Selangor, with the aim of unifying the state's innovation and digitalisation efforts into a single integrated platform, enhancing Selangor’s competitiveness as a leader in innovation in Malaysia and the Asian region.
“Aligned with the vision of a Smart, Progressive, and Liveable State, MetaSEL will connect government, industry, academia, and the public to create a sustainable innovation ecosystem,” he said.
He said this while officiating the Selangor State Innovation Appreciation Ceremony 2025, which was also attended by Religion and Innovation Development Committee Chairman Dr Muhammad Fahmi Ngah and Selangor State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzil Ahmad.
Amirudin added that MetaSEL marks a significant step in advancing Selangor’s inclusive and competitive Smart State agenda, positioning innovation as the key driver of progress for its people and administration within the framework of public sector reform.
During the event, Amirudin witnessed the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Selangor State Secretary’s Office (SUK) and the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO), as well as letters of understanding exchanged between SUK and Selgem Sdn Bhd.
He said the document exchange signified collaboration to explore opportunities for innovative transformation through intellectual property protection for new creations, as well as the commercialisation of existing innovative products developed by the Innovation and Creative Group (KIK) under the state administration.
