PUTRAJAYA, Oct 30 (Bernama) -- Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar wants the Malaysian Syariah Judicial Academy (AKSM) to become an internationally recognised centre for syariah judicial training and reference.

He said the academy not only plays a role in producing syariah judges, registrars, prosecutors and lawyers who are highly knowledgeable in law, but also individuals with integrity and resilience in upholding justice.

“AKSM will serve as a symbol of structured and effective training management, in line with the competency requirements of the public service and the needs of society.

“In this regard, the Department of Syariah Judiciary Malaysia (JKSM) must continue to strengthen its role as the country’s centre for syariah reference and innovation, as well as a centre of excellence in Islamic judicial knowledge and training that commands respect and confidence,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd Na’im also called on AKSM to expand its regional reach and influence through the Nusantara intellectual network by forging strategic partnerships with judicial institutions and universities in Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore and others.

He said the ultimate goal is to attain international recognition as a trusted centre for syariah judicial training.

Mohd Na’im further urged AKSM to serve as a catalyst for enhancing professionalism, integrity and service quality within the syariah judiciary, to strengthen public confidence in the Islamic judicial system in the country.

He expressed confidence that with efficient management, capable instructors and a dynamic curriculum, AKSM can drive the syariah empowerment agenda in a sustainable, impactful and progressive manner.

“The main objective of AKSM is clear — to provide professional and systematic training for members of the syariah judiciary, including syariah judges, prosecutors, officers and lawyers nationwide.

“It is here that outstanding individuals will be nurtured — those who are excellent in knowledge, noble in character and steadfast in integrity in upholding Islamic justice,” he added.
