KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 31 (Bernama) -- National men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun kept Malaysia’s challenge alive as the country’s sole survivors after smashing their way into the semi-finals of the Hylo Open 2025 in Saarbrucken, Germany, today.
During the last eight of the Super 500 tournament in Saarlandhalle, third seeds Wei Chong-Kai Wun rose to the occasion by edging past fifth seeds from Indonesia Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Shohibul Fikri 26-24, 21-19, in 44-minutes.
The world number five duo will next face Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani after the Indonesian sixth seeds denied an all-Malaysian semi-final by stunning top seeds Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik 11-21, 21-14, 21-17 in 56 minutes.
Meanwhile, it was the end of the road for both national women’s doubles pairs Go Pei Kee-Teoh Mei Xing and Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting.
Fourth seeds Pei Kee-Mei Xing were forced to retire in the second set after Pei Kee sustained an ankle injury while trailing 13-14 against Turkiye’s eighth seeds, Bengisu Ercetin–Nazlican Inci, having earlier lost the opening game 13-21.
Sixth seeds Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting also saw their run halted after losing 17-21, 16-21 to Taiwan’s Hsu Yin Hui–Lin Jhih Yun.
