MELAKA, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- The Department of Atomic Energy Malaysia (Atom Malaysia) has allocated RM1 million to implement various infrastructure projects in Kampung Tangga Batu Kechil under the Kampung Angkat MADANI initiative.

Its director-general Noraishah Pungut said the projects would include constructing and paving village roads, establishing a multipurpose community space, providing toilets for the elderly, setting up tube wells, and installing a solar system at the Ibadur Rahman Mosque.

She said the initiative under Kampung Angkat MADANI would benefit residents in three villages, namely Kampung Tangga Batu Kechil, Kampung Bukit Salleh, and Kampung Paya Luboh.

Noraishah added that by upgrading village roads, including alternative routes to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tangga Batu, the projects aim to provide parents with a safer and more convenient way to send and pick up their children, thus reducing the risk of accidents.

“The construction of tube wells can address water shortages during the dry season and assist residents in implementing large-scale programmes, while the installation of a solar system at the Ibadur Rahman Mosque is part of the government’s efforts to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050,” she told reporters here today.

She said this after the handover of Atom Malaysia’s Kampung Angkat MADANI and Sekolah Angkat MADANI, which was officiated by Pantai Kundor assemblyman Datuk Tuminah Kadi @ Mohd Hashim.

Noraishah said that under the Sekolah Angkat MADANI initiative, RM100,000 has been allocated for SK Tangga Batu, among others, to enhance the quality of education, including the provision of Google TV for more effective digital and interactive learning for students.

She said that the initiative also involves upgrading and repairing the school’s infrastructure, including maintaining the sewage system, installing fans, putting up school signs, and purchasing new furniture, including tables and benches in the canteen, to improve student comfort.

Noraishah said the implementation of the Kampung Angkat MADANI and Sekolah Angkat MADANI programmes not only allows the community to engage with the department but also gives Atom Malaysia staff the opportunity to assist residents, share knowledge, and build human capacity at the grassroots level, going beyond their regulatory functions.

“This initiative is not only focused on physical development but also reflects the government’s, and particularly Atom Malaysia’s, concern, as well as the commitment of all parties to ensure that no one is left behind in the country’s progress.

“We believe that all these improvements will have a significant positive impact on residents and students, enhancing comfort, safety, and the overall atmosphere of the village and school environment,” she said.
