Dewan Rakyat Passes Budget 2026 At Policy Stage

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- The Dewan Rakyat today passed the Supply Bill (Budget) 2026 at the policy stage after being debated since Oct 13.

The Bill, tabled by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 10, was approved through a bloc vote, with 120 Members of Parliament in favour, 67 against, and 35 absent.

According to the Parliament calendar, the committee stage debate on the Bill will take place from tomorrow until Nov 27.

Budget 2026 marks the fourth budget under the MADANI Government and the first under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13).

The ‘People’s Budget’, as it is themed, allocates RM470 billion in public expenditure, comprising RM338.2 billion for operating expenses and RM81 billion for development, in addition to investments from government-linked investment companies (RM30 billion), public-private partnerships (RM10 billion), and federal statutory bodies and Minister of Finance Incorporated companies (RM10.8 billion).

The sitting resumes tomorrow.
