Sabah Polls: DAP To Announce List Of Candidates On Nov 8

SANDAKAN, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- Sabah DAP will announce its list of candidates for the 17th Sabah State Election in Kota Kinabalu on Saturday (Nov 8).

Sabah DAP deputy chairman Datuk Chan Foong Hin said the party is prepared and confident of the capabilities of all candidates chosen to represent DAP.

In addition, Chan, who is also Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities, said electors in Sandakan can judge for themselves DAP's actions thus far.

"I stopped by the MADANI Community Service Centre here, and I saw and felt DAP's presence here… so, there is no issue of us being less confident,” he told reporters after officiating the 'Santuni Pekebun Kecil Sawit’ Programme here today.

Regarding the party's preparation to defend the Tanjung Papat state seat, which it has held since 2018, Chan said the DAP machinery is always ready despite the incumbent, Datuk Frankie Ming Fung, quitting the party together with nine branch members last month.

Tanjung Papat was one of the six state seats DAP won during the 2020 Sabah state polls. The other five were Luyang, Likas, Kapayan, Elopura and Sri Tanjong.

The Election Commission has set Nov 29 as polling day for the state election, with nomination day on Nov 15 and early voting on Nov 25.
