PUTRAJAYA, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) today announced the appointment of Dr Shamsuri Abdullah as the new Director-General of the Department of Polytechnic Education and Community Colleges (JPPKK), effective today.
In a statement today, MOHE said the appointment of Shamsuri, who was formerly the Deputy Director-General (Planning) of JPPKK, replaces Datuk Mohd Zahari Ismail who retired on Oct 1.
According to the ministry, the 57-year-old holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Economics and Business Economics from Hull University, United Kingdom, a Master’s degree in Information Technology from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business and Entrepreneurship Education from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
“Before being appointed as JPPKK Director-General, he led Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) as its Director,” the statement said.
The ministry also expressed confidence that Shamsuri will continue to drive excellence in polytechnics and community colleges as leading institutions for the nation’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The ministry extended its appreciation to Mohd Zahari for his service and contributions in leading JPPKK since Nov 16, 2022.
