BATU PAHAT, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- Wahyu Hidayat Japar’s initial plan to sell the motorcycle left behind by his late brother-in-law was abandoned when he recalled Muhammad Ridzuan Abd Kadir’s final request — to take good care of the vehicle.

The Yamaha 135LC motorcycle had been involved in a 2015 accident that claimed the life of Muhammad Ridzuan, who was then 24 years old.

Fulfilling his late brother-in-law’s wish, Wahyu, 43, decided to keep and maintain the motorcycle as a cherished remembrance.

Wahyu, who is also the founder of Pertubuhan Unit Amal Van Jenazah Muafakat Batu Pahat @ Skuad Muafakat 4 All, said he gradually upgraded the motorcycle with various accessories to ensure it remained in good condition.

“Ridzuan and I were very close. Even though he was my brother-in-law, our bond was like that of real brothers. We shared the same passion, especially when it came to motorcycles.

“I (regularly) repair and decorate this bike so it always looks new and well-kept,” he told Bernama when met at the Tongkang Pechah Bikeshow 2025 gathering in Taman Bistari here recently.

Wahyu said participating in motorcycle competitions did not cross his mind at first, as his only goal was to keep his brother-in-law’s vehicle in good condition for the use of his family and as a tribute to the late Muhammad Ridzuan.

However, after changing to a new 'cover set' with the Petronas logo last year and with the support of the management of the Tongkang Pechah Petronas petrol station, the bike gained a more exclusive appearance and began attracting attention.

“After changing to the new cover set, I decided to enter a competition and to my surprise, I won first place. Since then, this LC has brought me nothing but good fortune.

“Many motorcycle enthusiasts now come to take photos with it, and some even ask for my advice on customising their own bikes,” he said.

Today, Wahyu has founded the Petronas Santai Moto Tongkang Pechah group, comprising over 20 Yamaha motorcycle owners from the area.

“If Ridzuan were still here, I’m sure he’d be proud of how far this has come,” he said, adding that he has spent over RM4,000 on upgrades. Wahyu also expressed pride in showcasing the Petronas brand, a Malaysian name recognised globally.
