KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- The Les Chanteurs choir team from Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Tun Dr Ismail (1) has once again made Malaysia proud by winning two gold medals and one silver medal at the Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod International Choir Festival (MCE-ICF) 2025, which concluded today.
Les Chanteurs, represented by two groups - Senior and Junior - delivered captivating and dynamic performances across three categories, held simultaneously at Petronas Philharmonic Hall, The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC), and Menara KEN, Taman Tun Dr Ismail.
Les Chanteurs Senior, comprising 19 students aged between 10 and 12, performed Rise Up and Seindah Biasa (arranged by Wong Shen Vee). Despite making their debut in the B5: Pop Vocal Ensemble category, the group clinched a gold medal, outperforming several more experienced teams.
The Senior team with a larger ensemble of 50 students, also took home a second gold medal in the Young Children (Championship) category with their rendition of When You Believe and Irama Warisan Kita, also arranged by Wong Shen Vee.

The Senior team’s conductor, Azahar Abdullah, attributed the team’s success to their hard work, discipline, and strong team spirit.
“I am extremely proud of the singers of Les Chanteurs. This achievement proves that dedication and consistent effort can lead to outstanding performances,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, the Les Chanteurs Junior, led by conductor Rabi’atul Raba’ah Baharudin, won a silver medal in the Young Children (Open) category and also received a Special Jury Award for Artistic Interpretation of Malaysian Music.
Comprising students aged seven to nine, the Junior team performed Ketipang Intan Payung (composed by Dr Yusran Yusoff of UPSI) and I’ve Got Joy, accompanied by Dr Mohd Fairuz Zamani on piano and Ruviyamin Ruslan of No Noise Percussion on percussion.

“Although many of them do not have formal music training, they displayed remarkable discipline and determination, performing with confidence on the international stage,” said Rabi’atul, who also expressed appreciation to the school, teachers, and parents for their unwavering support.
The MCE-ICF 2025, held from Nov 5 to 9, featured international judges from Malaysia, Canada, South Korea, Indonesia, Hong Kong, the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, the Netherlands and the Philippines.
Last year, Les Chanteurs Senior and Junior also brought pride to the nation by winning gold and silver medals, respectively, reflecting their continued excellence on the international stage.
