6.2-magnitude Earthquake Strikes Off Northeastern Japan

TOKYO, Nov 10 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2 struck off the Sanriku coast in northeastern Japan at around 4.23 pm local time (0723 GMT) Monday, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said, reported Xinhua.

The temblor originated at a depth of about 10 kilometres. While slight sea-level changes may occur, the JMA said there is no risk of tsunami damage.

The quake registered an intensity of 3 on Japan's seismic scale of 7 in several locations across the Tohoku region.

No immediate injuries or damage were reported.
