KOTA TINGGI, Nov 10 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) is overseeing 11 schools under the Sekolah Angkat MADANI (MADANI adopted school) initiative, aimed at ensuring that quality education and holistic development reach students and local communities, particularly in rural areas.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said that of the total, six schools are directly managed by MINDEF, while the remaining five fall under the purview of the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT).

He said the programme is a strategic initiative to realise the Malaysia MADANI concept, which emphasises inclusive development, social well-being, and access to quality education, even in remote areas.

“Each adopted school project is valued at RM100,000, and focuses on integrating digital technology into the learning process. The Sekolah Angkat MADANI initiative is not merely a slogan.

“Among other things, this programme was introduced to ensure that development and education reach local students and communities, particularly those in rural areas,” he told reporters after launching the Sekolah Angkat MADANI programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Felda Lok Heng, here, today.

Mohamed Khaled today launched two Sekolah Angkat MADANI in the district - SK Gembut, managed by the Malaysia Defence Intelligence Organisation (MDIO), and SK Felda Lok Heng, managed directly by MINDEF.

He said that the Sekolah Angkat MADANI initiative is expected to be continued and further expanded next year, in line with the government’s commitment to ensuring that quality education and holistic development are accessible to all Malaysians.
