KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 (Bernama) -- Local rapper Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, had a “special relationship” with the Taiwanese female influencer who was found dead in a hotel room here recently, police said.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said investigations revealed that Namewee had been with the victim when they were abroad until their arrival in Malaysia.
“So far, investigations have found that the suspect did indeed have a special relationship with the victim. We have also recorded statements from all individuals involved in the case,” he said at a press conference held in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters today.
Fadil said police are still awaiting the full post-mortem and toxicology reports on the victim, which are expected to take some time.
He added that the victim’s body has yet to be claimed by her family.

“There was an individual who tried to claim the body, but we could not allow it as there was no authorisation. Therefore, we urge anyone with information about the victim’s family to come forward and assist in the investigation,” he said.
Namewee has been remanded to assist in investigations into the death of the influencer, Hsieh Yun Hsin, 33.
According to media reports, the rapper’s remand was extended for another three days until this Thursday, after his initial remand on Nov 5 ended yesterday.
Hsieh was found dead in the bathtub of the hotel room in Jalan Conlay on Oct 22.
The case, initially classified as sudden death, is now being investigated as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
