MEXICO CITY, Nov 16 (Bernama-dpa) -- Dozens of people have been injured in a youth-led protest in Mexico, officials said on Saturday, after clashes broke out between demonstrators and security forces, reported German Press Agency (dpa).

The protests drew mainly young demonstrators voicing their concerns over crime and corruption.

In Mexico City, some 100 police officers were injured, including 40 who needed hospital treatment, public safety secretary Pablo Vazquez told a press conference. Some 20 civilians were injured and 20 people were arrested, Vazquez told local media.

Protests organised by members of Generation Z have taken place in various countries including Nepal, Morocco, Madagascar, and Peru in recent months. Generation Z refers to those born between 1995 and 2010.

While the specific concerns vary from country to country, the movements are united by the young age of the demonstrators, their spontaneous organisation through social networks, and the use of common symbols.
