KOTA KINABALU, Nov 16 (Bernama) -- Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching visited local veteran actor Ejin Dinting at his home in Manggatal here as part of the Ziarah Seni initiative, an outreach programme under the National Film Development Corporation (FINAS).
Ejin, 77, had appeared in 11 drama productions by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), including Angan Si Nonong, Cinta yang Tertinggal, Jimmy Sompoton, Kulaut, Pangazou, Bukan Unduk Ngadau and Demi Si Aki.
He was involved in the 2024 film Sinakagon, directed by Timothy Stephen, which was inspired by the Kadazandusun’s Huminodun legend.
During last night’s visit, Teo presented financial assistance and essential food supplies.
Also present were FINAS principal assistant director Wan Noor Zazreena Wan Zaizodin and Sabah Film and Visual Association president, Chester Pang.
In a statement following the visit, Teo said that, to date, 224 industry practitioners have benefited from the Ziarah Seni MADANI FINAS initiative, including six in Sabah.
She stated that FINAS has assisted 167 arts practitioners as of yesterday, surpassing its annual target.
Teo said that local creative industry players who need support from the programme can reach out to the FINAS Industry Synergy Unit and the Welfare Committee.
