GRS Needs New Mandate To Continue Development In Sabah - Hajiji

16/11/2025 07:27 PM

KOTA KINABALU, Nov 16 (Bernama) -- Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) needs a new mandate from the people to continue with development plans in Sabah to make Sabah comparable to other states, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Hajiji, who is also GRS chairman, said through the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 1.0 policy, the state government has laid a solid foundation to drive Sabah to become a superior and respected state in the country.

“Over the past five years, the GRS-led state government has achieved many successes through the Hala Tuju SMJ development plan.

“We prioritise the development of the people, we fight to improve the living standards of the poor and the education of Sabah children,” he said in a statement after holding a meeting with the GRS Sulaman election machinery at Dewan Rumpun Bajau Samah, Kampung Lok Batik in Tuaran, today.

According to Hajiji, these priorities include the initiative to provide RM300 per month to about 100,000 heads of hardcore poor households on the e-Kasih list, starting this year, which has never been done by the government before.

In addition, he said, the state government is providing 40 units of Rumah Mesra SMJ for free in each state constituency to the needy compared to the past, which saw only four units of such houses under the Poor People’s Housing Programme (PPRT) in each constituency.

Therefore he hopes the people will not make a mistake in choosing the new state government in the state election because GRS has proven its capabilities through a clear agenda and struggle.

"We are not a government that only knows how to talk, lie and promise the moon and stars," said Hajiji who is also a candidate for the Sulaman seat.

Hajiji said this election is unique because it has never seen 596 candidates contesting for 73 seats, but this is part of the democratic process and he is confident that the people will vote wisely.

Meanwhile, he stated that the GRS Sulaman election machinery is in good condition and is ready to face the election.

"As I said earlier, I want them to go to the field to meet and explain the contributions, achievements and plans of GRS to all voters. The same instructions have also been given to the party machinery in other areas," he said.
