KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17 -- Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh has praised national women's doubles head coach Rosman Razak, who played an important role in Pearly Tan and M.Thinaah success at the Japan Masters recently.

Hannah said the achievement of the world No. 2 pair was result of a collective team effort, and that included the man who sat behind them in competitions.

"Coach Rosman Razak has been nothing short of exceptional since he took charge of the girls, and the Road To Gold  (RTG) has rewarded his good work with a salary top-up that was announced in June this year.

"Rosman's results with Pearly-Thinaah is proof that Malaysia has good coaches, and we should recognise and honour that with a compensation that reflects their quality," she said in her official Facebook post today.

Hannah also expressed her excitement at wanting to witness more success from the three individuals, who embodied the true meaning of Malaysian talent, hardwork and unity.

Yesterday, Pearly-Thinaah proved their mettle on the international stage by defeating Japan’s Rin Iwanaga-Kie Nakanishi 22-20, 21-19 in 54 minutes.

The win saw them take home USD37,525 (RM155,190) in prize money.
