PENAMPANG, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Moyog state seat, Remysta Jimmy Taylor, has outlined six key initiatives to develop the constituency and improve residents’ well-being if elected in the 17th Sabah State Election.
He said his plans include free tuition classes for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates and strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Moyog.
“Those sitting for SPM will receive free tuition. We want our children and youths in Moyog to have equal educational opportunities. Competition is very stiff, so with good results and tuition support, they can enter good universities.
“From there, they can secure better jobs, support their families and improve their living standards and economy,” he said when speaking at the Konsert Mega Remysta HARAPAN campaign event here last night, which was also attended by PKR vice-president Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.
To strengthen TVET, Remysta pledged to introduce more skills courses through community colleges, Industrial Training Institute and GiatMARA to create job opportunities for local youths.
Addressing over 2,000 attendees, he also proposed health-related initiatives, including more mobile clinics in areas such as Kibabaig, Terawi, Pogunon, Timpangoh and Maang to provide basic screenings and immediate treatment.
Remysta also plans to push for the construction of a modern Penampang Hospital equipped with up-to-date medical facilities to ease congestion at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu and provide closer access to healthcare for Moyog residents.
He further reiterated his commitment to accelerating flood mitigation projects and wants to position Moyog as a tourism hub to boost local incomes.
The Moyog state constituency, under the Penampang parliamentary constituency, is among the 73 seats being contested in the Sabah election, which will be held this Saturday.
