KANGAR, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- The National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) urges all flood victims nationwide to register with the Social Welfare Department (JKM) at temporary relief centres via the MyIBJKM app to receive their RM1,000 Bantuan Wang Ihsan quickly and efficiently.
NADMA director-general Meor Ismail Meor Akim explained that official registration with JKM at PPS is a primary requirement before the aid can be disbursed to heads of households, as it facilitates easier verification through the department's system.
"This assistance is provided to all flood-affected individuals, even if they have not relocated to a PPS. However, they must first register with JKM before completing the application process.
"Therefore, I strongly urge all victims to register in the MyIBJKM app using the QR code provided by JKM at a PPS," he told reporters after visiting the PPS at Dewan 2020 here today.
Meor Ismail added that the payment will be either through electronic fund transfer for recipients who have updated their bank account details in MyIBJKM, or cash payments at Bank Simpanan Nasional for those without bank accounts.
"BSN will send an SMS notification to eligible recipients regarding the payment method for the aid. Please approach JKM officers at the PPS if there are any technical issues or confusion about the process. Insya-Allah, everything will be facilitated," he said.
He also advised evacuees with young children, elderly relatives, or other vulnerable family members to relocate to a PPS for their safety, emphasising the importance of supervising children closely while at the relief centres.
Regarding the flood situation in Perlis, Meor Ismail said the situation remains under control despite continuous rainfall as per current forecasts.
"Perlis experienced major flooding in 2010, and this episode is also significant. However, all agencies are well-prepared and coordinating smoothly. We pray that conditions normalise and the number of affected individuals continues to decrease," he added.
