KOTA BHARU, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- The Irrigation and Drainage Department’s National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre  (PRABN) has issued a warning that more than 100 low-lying areas across five districts in Kelantan are expected to face flooding from today until Nov 30.

In a statement issued today, PRABN indicated the warning follows the continuous heavy rain (danger) alert issued by the Meteorological Department on Nov 24, coupled with several major rivers predicted to exceed the danger level.

"Among the districts expected to be affected are Gua Musang, Kuala Krai, Machang, and Tanah Merah, involving villages within a five-kilometre radius of the Sungai Kelantan Basin.

Areas at risk in Gua Musang include Kampung Jeram Tekoh and Kampung Limau Kasturi.

In Kuala Krai, the alert covers extensive low-lying settlements such as Kampung Mambong, Kampung Pahi, Kampung Bahagia, Kampung Bekok, Kampung Cheneh, Kampung Batu Mengkebang, Kampung Sungai Pas, Kampung Temalir, Dusun Damar and Taman Perisai Wira.

In Machang, the alert includes extensive low-lying areas along Sungai Kelantan, such as Kampung Pangkal Durian and Kampung Kolam Abu.

Similarly, in Tanah Merah, the warning applies to low-lying zones near Sungai Kelantan, including Kampung Jerangau, Kampung Chekok Ipoh, Taman Kiara, Kampung Belimbing and Kampung Kerilla.

PRABN also reminded residents that flooding may occur earlier or later than forecast, and advised those in affected areas to remain vigilant and follow instructions from the authorities.

"The public can obtain further information through the official PublicInfoBanjir portal or its Facebook page @PublicInfoBanjir," the statement concluded.
