KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- The Chief Scout of Malaysia, Maj Gen Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Zin Bidin, received India Scouts' highest award, the Silver Elephant Award, at an official award ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Lucknow, India, yesterday.
Also receiving the same award from the Bharat Scouts & Guides (BSG) was Acting National Scout Chief Commissioner, Dr Mohammed Mukhyuddin Sarwani.
Dr Mohd Zin expressed his gratitude to BSG for the recognition, which he described as an international acknowledgement of the contributions made by the Scouts Association of Malaysia in shaping disciplined youth with a global perspective.
"This award is not only for the two of us, but for the entire Malaysian Scouting family. It serves as evidence that our efforts, dedication, and commitment to strengthening youth leadership, life skills, and community service are recognised at the global level," he said in a statement.
He added that the recognition would continue to inspire Scouts Malaysia to strengthen its role in fostering a competitive, caring, and united society, in line with the global mission of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM).
The Silver Elephant Award is the highest honour given by BSG to adult leaders for their significant contributions to strengthening the scouting movement.
The award ceremony, officiated by the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel, took place yesterday in conjunction with the Grand Finale of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations and the 19th National Jamboree of the Bharat Scouts & Guides.
The Chairman of the Asia Pacific Regional Committee of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) 2022-2025, Chempaka Emalin Pahamin, also received the prestigious award.
