JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- The Johor State Government is on the highest alert mode following the flood risk warning in Segamat, Tangkak and Muar following the continuous heavy rain reported by the National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (PRABN) and the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) since yesterday.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, through a post on his Facebook, said areas near river basins and low-lying locations have been identified as being at high risk if high-intensity rain continues until Nov 29, 2025.
Therefore, he said the state government is also now increasing its preparedness through 24-hour monitoring at all hotspots, mobilisation of security assets and provision of critical logistics to ensure that emergency actions can be implemented immediately for the safety of residents in the affected areas.
“I would like to call on all Johoreans to remain aware of weather developments, follow official announcements from PRABN, the Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) and MetMalaysia, and provide full cooperation to security agencies if asked to evacuate for the sake of common safety.
“Let us all pray together for the weather to return to stability and Johor to be kept away from any disaster. May Allah SWT protect the state and all the people of Johor. God willing,” he said.
