KOTA KINABALU, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) president Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup has won the Sook seat in the 17th Sabah State Election.
Arthur, who is also the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, defeated incumbent Datuk Ellron Angin of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), who has held the seat since 2008.
According to the official results announced by the Election Commission (EC), the Pensiangan Member of Parliament, who contested under the Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket, won the five-cornered contest with a 4,727-vote majority.
The Sook state seat has 20,349 registered voters and is one of three state seats under the Pensiangan parliamentary constituency, along with Tulid and Nabawan.
