SEREMBAN, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sikamat has been selected as a Sekolah Angkat MADANI (MADANI Adopted School) by the Information Department (JAPEN), in line with the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the national education ecosystem through greater involvement of public service agencies.

JAPEN director-general Julina Johan said the initiative allows the department to contribute more systematically to the school’s development, particularly in improving the conduciveness of its learning facilities.

“We have received approval from the Ministry of Finance for an allocation of RM100,000, which will be used to renovate and upgrade the school’s main learning spaces, namely the access centre, special recovery room and computer laboratory.

“This initiative is aimed at providing greater comfort for students, while strengthening our support for enhancing the teaching and learning (PdP) process for the children,” she told reporters after the handover ceremony for the adopted school programme here today.

She said the selection of the school was based on a list submitted by the Ministry of Education, involving schools with specific needs, particularly in terms of facilities and infrastructure, to better support the implementation of more effective PdP.

“Most of the schools listed have basic infrastructure, but there are still areas that require improvement. SK Sikamat, with more than 1,000 students and still operating in two sessions, certainly needs support to ensure the teaching and learning process runs more smoothly,” she said.

Julina said the adopted school project began on Sept 26 and was completed ahead of schedule, with work finishing on Nov 13 compared to the original completion date of Nov 21.

In conjunction with the handover ceremony, the PENTARAMA Homecoming programme was also held. The event, introduced by JAPEN as a pilot initiative, featured various activities including a casual nationhood dialogue, a traditional fashion show and interactive games.

She said the light-hearted and engaging programme served as a platform to strengthen patriotism, identity and love for the country among students, particularly those at the primary school level.
