SHAH ALAM, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- The Bukit Aman Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (APTISOM) Division arrested 105 foreigners in three operations with the assistance of related agencies around Sekinchan and Sabak Bernam this morning.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said three men, 26 to 32, and a woman, 24, all suspected to be caretakers, along with 14 other foreign men, 21 to 49, and 22 foreign women, 24 to 56, were arrested and six mobile phones were seized during the first raid on a residence around Sekinchan at 2.40 am.
"In the second operation at 2.15 am in the vicinity of the Sekinchan jetty, inspections on a van led to the arrest of a foreign man, 19, who acted as the driver, as well as five other foreigners, 19 to 41, who did not have valid travel documents,” he said in a statement today, adding that four mobile phones and RM157 in cash were seized.
During the third operation around the waters of Sabak Bernam at 2.15 am, a joint marine police and Council for Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (MAPO) task force patrol intercepted an unregistered boat.
A foreign man, 43, who was the boat’s helmsman, and two other foreign men, 35 to 46, suspected to be the boat crew, were arrested, along with 48 foreign men, 16 to 56, and eight foreign women, 21 to 50, all of whom did not have valid travel documents, he said, adding that three mobile phones were seized.
The case is being investigated under Section 26a of the ATIPSOM Act 2007 and Section 6(1)(C) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
