KANGAR, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- The Appointed Military Commander (AMC) of the 30th Brigade implemented a humanitarian aid initiative by establishing two River Water Supply Points (Fresh Water Points) in Kampung Wang Kelian near Padang Besar.

The Headquarters of the 30th Malaysian Infantry Brigade, in a Facebook post tonight, stated that the aid was provided to alleviate the burden on the local community affected by the recent floods that hit Perlis.

"Unlike the clean water supply from Syarikat Air Perlis (SAP) at the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) Masjid Al-Husna Wang Kelian, this Fresh Water Point meets the hygiene needs of the local residents for bathing and cleansing purposes.

"Each water tank used to fill the fresh water point can hold 2,000 liters," according to the brigade headquarters.

The brigade headquarters said the effort is part of the continuous steps taken by the AMC of the 30th Malaysian Infantry Brigade, along with the teams under its umbrella, to provide support to the affected local community, especially during the post-flood phase.

For the record, Perlis was first hit by floods on Nov 23, and as of 8 pm tonight, the number of flood victims in the state continued to drop to 551 people compared to 696 victims this afternoon.

Based on data from the Perlis State Disaster Management Secretariat, the remaining flood victims are being housed at four PPS across the areas of Padang Besar, Kangar, and Arau.
