PUTRAJAYA, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Armed Forces’ (MAF) ‘Survival Village’ proved to be an instant crowd-puller, drawing over 2,000 visitors on the opening day of the Rancakkan MADANI Bersama Malaysiaku Programme and the 2025 National Public Service Reform Convention at Dataran Putrajaya.

Showcased by the Defence Ministry, the Survival Village sits alongside other key attractions, including a field hospital, military working dog demonstrations and major national defence assets.

A Bernama check found visitors flocking to the Survival Village, eager to learn jungle survival skills from 12 personnel of the Sixth Battalion Royal Ranger Regiment (6 RRD).

Its company commander, Capt Mohd Hafizuddin Sulaiman, said makeshift shelters and animal-trap models were among the most popular displays.

“We show the types of animals that can be sourced in the jungle, along with real trap and snare models.

“There’s also a fire-starting demonstration using stone and steel, and visitors can test their own skills to see if they can spark a flame,” he said.

Visitors also get a chance to try traditional blowpipe shooting and sample ayam pansuh — an Iban and Bidayuh delicacy cooked in bamboo.

The three-day Rancakkan MADANI programme, which began yesterday, offers more than 300 public service touchpoints, a career carnival, interactive showcases, family entertainment and special promotions for visitors.

Organised by the Prime Minister’s Office through the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU), the event targets 300,000 attendees. It runs from 9 am to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 9 am to 6 pm on Sunday.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the closing ceremony at 11 am tomorrow.

Building upon the impact of the One Year with the MADANI Government and Two Years with the MADANI Government programmes, Rancakkan MADANI represents the tradition of reporting government achievements directly to the people on an annual basis.

Held simultaneously is the 2025 National Public Service Reform Convention, which brings together policy experts from the public sector and industry players.
