KULAI, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- The Johor State Government is confident it will achieve its five-year target of building 30,000 units under the Johor Affordable Housing (RMMJ) scheme by the fourth quarter of 2026, following positive progress in the project so far.
State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said that, to date, 20,100 units have been built and the keys handed over to their respective owners.
He said the remaining 9,900 units were expected to be completed within the stipulated timeframe and according to the construction schedule.
“The 20,100 units we have built so far almost cover the entire district.
“Of the total, 15,000 units were built in urban areas, particularly in Johor Bahru, Pasir Gudang, Tebrau, Kulai and Kota Iskandar,” he told a press conference afte the Kick Off Inisiatif Belanjawan Johor 2026 programme launching ceremony here today.
Also present was Johor Housing Development Corporation (PKPJ) chief executive officer Datin Paduka Dr Suhailizan Suliman.
Mohd Jafni said that the RMMJ scheme, featuring houses priced below RM300,000, covers both urban and rural areas.
He added that the state government, through Johor Budget 2026, had introduced the Perumahan Kasih Johor initiative, which comprises three special assistance schemes.
Mohd Jafni said it included the House Rental Assistance Scheme for the low-income group (B40), providing monthly assistance of RM200 for 10 months.
“The Bantuan Beli Rumah Pertama Scheme provides a housing subsidy of RM5,000 to each eligible applicant for a house priced below RM500,000.
“Meanwhile, the Bantuan Masuk Rumah Pertama Scheme provides a one-off financial assistance of RM2,000,” he said.
