PUTRAJAYA, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today launched two initiatives under the people's development agenda, namely the Sahabat Penggerak MADANI programme and the People's Welfare Insurance Scheme (SIKR) 3.0.
Both initiatives are part of the government's efforts to strengthen the social safety net and empower communities at the grassroots level.
The launch was held in conjunction with the Rancakkan MADANI Bersama Malaysiaku Programme and the National Convention on Public Service Reform 2025 for three days from Friday and concluding today.
The two initiatives mark the government's continued commitment to empowering the people's well-being based on MADANI values and an inclusive social protection system.
The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, with Cabinet Ministers, heads of departments and senior civil service officers.
Among those present were Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.
Also present were Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and Director-General of Public Service Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz.
The launch ceremony was the culmination of the Rancakkan MADANI programme with various contents including interactive exhibitions, sharing sessions and a forum for reforming the public delivery system.
Sahabat Penggerak MADANI are individuals trained by the Malaysian Academy of Nationhood (AKM) to become agents of awareness and understanding of nationhood, leadership and current government policies at the grassroots level.
SIKR is an initiative of the MADANI Government to ensure that the poor and hardcore poor based on eKasih receive insurance coverage.
After launching both initiatives, Anwar also held a walkabout session to mingle with participants and visitors in the exhibition area before leaving the main hall.
The Rancakkan MADANI programme is a continuation of the One-Year Programme with the MADANI Government and the Two-Year Programme with the MADANI Government which has become a tradition of the government's annual reporting directly to the people.
Concurrent with the programme, the National Convention on Public Service Reform 2025 was also held which brought together policy thinkers among civil servants and industry players.
The national-scale programme organised by the Prime Minister's Office through the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU) has successfully attracted 304,107 visitors in the two days of the programme, exceeding the target of 300,000 visitors.
