REMBAU, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- A heavy atmosphere of grief prevailed at the Forensic Medicine Unit of Rembau Hospital today as the family of a five-year-old girl, who drowned in a clubhouse pool in Lenggeng, Nilai, yesterday, arrived to claim her body.

The victim’s father, Noor Muhamad Asun, 46, said the loss of Nur Dhiya Azzalea was deeply felt, and even now, the sweet, playful nature of his youngest child of four remained vividly in his mind.

He said that during the incident, he was at work, while Nur Dhiya Azzalea was with his wife and another child, attending a kindergarten programme at the clubhouse hall in Mahkota Hills, Lenggeng.

“We’re still in shock and heartbroken. Every time I’m in the kitchen, she would come over, playful as ever, asking for water or food.

“Now all those memories are gone, and we have come to terms with her passing,” he told reporters today.

Noor Muhamad said his daughter would be laid to rest at the Batu Lapan Muslim Cemetery, Mantin, once the hospital post-mortem is completed.

Meanwhile, the Tabika Kemas Sg Machang Hilir chairman Habu Alwazie Bujang, 46, said at the time of the incident, the programme involving 24 kindergarten children had ended, and nearly half of the parents and their children had already returned home.

“At that time, only the committee members were in the hall cleaning up, while several other children were in the pool, supervised by their guardians,” he said.

Yesterday, State police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said a five-year-old girl was believed to have drowned in a clubhouse pool in Lenggeng.

He said that preliminary investigations revealed the victim disappeared from her parents’ sight while attending a kindergarten programme.
