MELAKA, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- The Bernama Motorcycle Club (BMC) handed over a donation to Lembaga Pengurusan dan Kebajikan Anak Yatim dan Miskin Islam (PAYASUM) in Sungai Udang here today.
Its president, Amrizan Madian said the donation was one of its activities in conjunction with BMC's Ziarah Kasih programme and also served as the club's closing event for the year.
“Today's donation handover is part of BMC's corporate social responsibility (CSR) after the visitation programme carried out for Bernama retirees around Melaka yesterday.
"This contribution is the result of successful fundraising collected over two months, not only from BMC members but also from Bernama staff," he told Bernama.
He said that such programmes would continue next year in an effort to care for and help the less fortunate such as orphans and the elderly.
He said that BMC, which was officially established on Aug 31, 2023 and now has nearly 100 members comprising Bernama staff and retirees, not only conducts motorcycle tours or convoys but also helps to strengthen the bond of friendship among members through various programmes.
Meanwhile, PAYASUM manager Amirudin Md Sareh said that the team always welcomes contributions from any party in an effort to ensure the welfare of orphans and the poor placed in the welfare home continues to be protected.
He said the contributions received indirectly help to increase the PAYASUM management's funds in covering the operational and management costs of the welfare home.
"Besides that, the visit by BMC members on various types of motorcycles, including high-powered ones, brought joy to the orphans and less fortunate here because this was the first time they received a motorcycle convoy visit, and the children were excited to see the motorcycles," he also said.
He added that so far, 47 orphans and poor children of various ages are housed in the welfare home, which was established in 1963.
