SEA Games 2025: Two Bronzes Bring Canoe Slalom Team Closer To Medal Target

BANGKOK, Dec 10 (Bernama) -- The national canoe slalom camp can breathe a sigh of relief as they moved closer to meeting their medal target at the SEA Games Thailand 2025 after clinching two bronze medals at the Royal Thai Navy Rowing and Canoeing Training Center in Rayong today.

Malaysia’s two bronze medals were delivered by Mohamad Nazrin Najib in the men’s kayak slalom individual event and Azlyn Farhana Muhammad Azmi Tan in the women’s canoe slalom individual event.

National slalom team manager Muhammad Asirullah Kamar said Malaysia is aiming to secure a silver medal tomorrow to complete the overall target of two bronze and one silver.

“Tomorrow we have two more medal events, women’s K1 and men’s C1 and our athletes are almost fully prepared for the challenge.

“Our target is two bronze and one silver in slalom, we will push for the silver medal tomorrow,” he said when contacted by Bernama here, today.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian quartet of Montoya Raw Michael, Khairul Naim Zainal, Aimi Ayuni Azwan and Syahida Asyiqin Rusli finished fourth in the mixed kayak four 500 metres final, which saw Indonesia clinch gold, Singapore take silver and Thailand secure bronze.

In the mixed kayak double 500m, Montoya Raw and Aimi Ayuni placed fifth. Singapore secured gold, followed by Vietnam with silver and Indonesia with bronze.
