KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of defence to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two countries, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said.

In a Facebook post, Mohamed Khaled said he is currently in the UAE for a two-day working visit, with the MoU being among the key items on the agenda for his meeting with the UAE Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Mohamed Mubarak Fadhel AlMazrouei, in Abu Dhabi.

Upon his arrival at Dubai International Airport last night, Mohamed Khaled also held a pre-council session to ensure that the overall arrangements for his working visit proceed smoothly.

“May this visit bring benefits and open up opportunities for closer cooperation in security and defence that will serve the interests of both countries,” he said.
