IPOH, Dec 12 (Bernama) -- The government remains focused on its efforts to combat corruption and strengthen governance.

The political secretary to the Minister of Finance, Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, said the government’s measures have successfully saved RM15.5 billion of national funds from falling into the wrong hands.

“As Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim mentioned, RM15.5 billion was saved as a result of anti-corruption enforcement measures. That is what is truly important,” he told reporters after attending a special meeting with Chinese farmers’ representatives from the Tambun parliamentary constituency here today.

At the meeting, Muhammad Kamil said he had proposed several ideas to help farmers with their problems, such as switching to modern farming methods or vertical farming, due to limited land availability in the Tambun area.

“Insya-Allah, next week I will try to meet with stakeholders, including state-owned subsidiaries, to propose alternative suggestions. Some also requested more adequate compensation.

“So this will also be raised and discussed further, and Insya-Allah I will convey the same message to the Perak Menteri Besar (Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad) concerning land matters and related issues,” he said.
