Remains Of Crane Collapse Victim Muhammad Amaluddin Laid To Rest

JOHOR BAHRU, Dec 14 (Bernama) -- Muhammad Amaluddin Hisamudin, 22, who died in a crane collapse at a power plant in Tanjung Bin, was laid to rest at the Gelang Patah Muslim Cemetery at 3.45 pm today.

The funeral was attended by around 100 family members and close friends, including representatives from Malakoff.

Before the burial, his remains were taken from Hospital Pontian Forensic Unit at 2 pm to the family home at Jalan Nusa Perintis here for prayers.

Autopsy procedures for another victim, Muhammad Alfarid Ahmad, 19, were also conducted at Hospital Pontian Forensic Unit today. His remains were later brought home to Tanah Merah, Kelantan for burial.

Family members of both victims were present from as early as 9 am for the autopsy and subsequent arrangements.

Meanwhile, Pontian police chief, Supt Hadzrat Hussien Mion Hussain when contacted, said investigations into the incident are ongoing.

“We are still awaiting full reports from the Fire and Rescue Department and Tanjung Bin authorities to determine the cause before any further statements can be issued,” he said.

The crane, used to lift coal, reportedly collapsed at the Tanjung Bin power plant yesterday, killing two workers and injuring three others, who are receiving treatment at Hospital Sultanah Aminah.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof stressed that a thorough, transparent and comprehensive investigation must be carried out.

Fadillah, who is also Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, urged the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), the police, the Energy Commission, and relevant technical agencies to determine the exact cause of the incident.
