BANGKOK, Dec 18 (Bernama) -- Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) president Datuk Amarjit Singh has described the track cycling squad's clean sweep of the three gold medals at the Hua Mark Velodrome here as "the sweetest moment” of the SEA Games Thailand 2025.
He said the outstanding achievement is made more meaningful because the third gold medal of the day - in the men's team pursuit event - marked the national contingent's 200th medal at this edition of the biennial Games.
The national cycling governing body had previously targeted only one gold medal from the Games here.
"Today is truly a happy and proud day for us all. Not only did our cyclists exceed our one-gold target, but the track cyclists also presented us with three gold medals, with the third gold medal of the day being the country's 200th medal,” he said.
He is also confident that the cyclists can maintain their winning momentum in the men's sprint and point race events tomorrow.
The national track cyclists had earlier created a sensation when Muhammad Ridwan Sahrom won the men's keirin event, before Nur Aisyah Mohamad Zubir emerged triumphant in the women's scratch race, and the men's team overcame Thailand in the team pursuit final.
