Elderly Man Dies A Lonely Death In Taman Seri Inderapura

KUANTAN, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- An elderly man was found dead with his body in a state of active decomposition at a terrace house in Taman Seri Inderapura here yesterday.

Kuantan police chief ACP Ashari Abu Samah said an emergency call via MERS 999 came in at 7.50 pm from a complainant who reported a foul stench of decay emanating from the victim's house.

He said police broke down the locked door to find the dead man lying on a chair in the living room.

"From initial investigations, the victim Lim Jin, 78, who lived alone, was likely to have died several days ago based on the condition of the decay," he said in a statement here today.

He said the complainant also informed police that the elderly man had lived there for more than 30 years and the last time the complainant met the victim was some five days ago.

Ashari said early investigation showed the cause of death pointed to illness with no criminal elements.

“Further examination revealed several types of medication belonging to the victim. Checks with the medical authorities indicated that the medications were for high blood pressure, heart disease, cholesterol medication and also prostate cancer,” he said.

The victim's body has been taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) for further action and efforts to trace the next of kin were underway.
